Hi, I'm Meredith. I'm a daughter, sister, friend, and traumatic brain injury survivor. Eleven years ago, I had a life-altering skateboard accident from the result of not wearing a helmet.
Prior to my accident, I was very adventurous and outdoorsy. I was highly focused on my physicality and pushing myself to new limits and taking on new challenges. Running marathons, skiing black diamonds, and completing rope courses filled my days.
Due to the accident, I lost the use of my left arm/hand. I also walk with foot drop, and am no longer able to run. I have made modifications to get back to doing some of the things I enjoyed previously.
I have dedicated my life to making a positive difference in the lives of both sports enthusiasts and other TBI survivors.
Meredith and her mom have written a memoir about her journey to recovery, telling the story from each of their points of view (Coming soon).
Riding her recumbent bike frequently, Meredith ALWAYS wears a helmet and posts pictures of her doing so to promote helmet safety.
Meredith works in the clinical trial industry at a CRO. While she doesn't work in the direct field of neurology, she still is contributing to an industry built on hope.
As a volunteer of the brain injury association, Meredith devotes time to supporting other brain injury survivors.
Meredith uses her Instagram platform to offer hope through modifications, coping mechanisms, and encouraging words.
Attending the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Meredith is pursuing a graduate degree in clinical research. She hopes to learn all she can on the subject and advance her career.
